Some days the people you share life with need more time from you and sometimes, sometimes, YOU may need more time from them.&nbsp;<h3>Myth 4: Only Extroverts Thrive in Accountability Groups</h3>There’s a belief that only extroverts, those who are naturally outgoing and comfortable sharing with others, thrive in accountability groups. This myth keeps many introverted men from joining. But the reality is that accountability groups are designed for all men, no matter their personality. The goal is not socializing for the sake of socializing, but growing together in faith. Introverts may even find these settings easier, as they provide structured conversations where the focus is on discussing life and faith, rather than having to “perform” in a social context.The beauty of an accountability group is that it gives space for each man to share at his own pace, in his own way, and with a level of depth that might not happen in more casual or superficial conversations. It’s about creating a community where everyone, introverted or extroverted, feels safe, heard, and supported. Unless maybe your with AJ, Don, or one of the trained FATE leaders and we get on a good discussion where "more" is warranted. Sometimes thats the benefit of sharing life with other men that have "been there and done that" is that they know when we as men bluff or try to not sharing the entire story. The Bible even tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, “Two are better than one...If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”Men who think they should handle everything on their own end up isolated, carrying burdens they were never meant to bear alone. When you’re in community with others, there’s strength, encouragement, and wisdom that helps you overcome the battles in life. It’s a partnership that allows you to be real, to get support, and to continue to move forward in the fight.<h3>Myth 6: It’s Too Late for Me to Start Now </h3>Another myth that keeps men from joining accountability groups is the belief that it’s too late. Jesus never said, “Come to Me when you’ve got everything figured out.” He said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).</blockquote>No matter where you are in your journey, it’s never too late to seek help, to find accountability, and to start living the life you were created to live. You’re not too far gone. In fact, the fact that you’re reading this shows that you’re ready to take the next step.<h3>Myth 7: Accountability Will Make Me Feel Ashamed </h3>Some men shy away from accountability because they’re afraid of being judged or feeling ashamed of their shortcomings. But accountability groups are not about judgment. They’re about grace. In these groups, the goal is not to point fingers, but to come alongside each other in our struggles, to walk through life together, and to challenge one another to grow.In fact, accountability groups help create a safe space where men can be honest about their struggles, knowing they won’t be met with condemnation, but with love, encouragement, and a shared commitment to grow. Galatians 6:1-2 reminds us: “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. As men, we are often told to be strong. To be the providers, the protectors, the leaders. We are expected to carry burdens, to shoulder responsibility, and to keep going no matter what. Society tells us that we should always have it together. But how many of us feel the weight of the world pressing down on our shoulders, even when we're trying to be the men we know we should be? The truth is, we are human. Finally, he can take off his armor, let his guard down, and rest. But when he does, his body doesn’t just relax. It doesn't immediately know how to be still. It has become accustomed to being ready for a fight. The armor might come off, but the fight hasn’t ended in his mind, and that heaviness doesn’t go away overnight.</blockquote>This is how many men feel in life. Even when we’re told to rest, we don't know how. We don’t know how to be still. We don’t know how to surrender our worries. And when we try, it often feels like we're failing. We feel like we should be doing more, being more, proving more. But surrendering our stress, our thoughts, and our worries doesn’t come naturally. It feels unnatural, almost impossible. But it’s in those moments, when we let go, that the true peace of God can enter.The Hardest Thing to Do, but the Most PowerfulLet’s be honest: surrendering isn't easy. When you’re used to carrying the load, to being the strong one, to always having a plan and an answer, giving it up feels like weakness. But surrendering isn’t about weakness—it’s about trust. It’s about acknowledging that, in our own strength, we cannot handle it all. When we try to do it all on our own, when we hold on to everything, we only add to our anxiety. (Matthew 11:28, ESV)</blockquote>God’s Plan for You is Unique and SpecialDon't take my word for it. Consider this, each of us has a story. A life crafted by God for a purpose. And sometimes, we forget that. We get so caught up in the hustle of life, trying to be everything to everyone, that we lose sight of the truth: God made us for a reason. He designed us with specific talents, passions, and strengths, and He has a plan for our lives—one that brings glory to His kingdom. This isnt the typical I have a good life and I have everything in control kind of moment. This is a simple perspective check that allows vulnerability and transparency from you as a man. Everything that goes against what the world tells a man he should be but then again we dont live for the world and some of us have to come to terms with that.&nbsp;So, just like a soldier who goes into battle with a unique set of skills, you are uniquely equipped for the challenges in your life. God has placed you exactly where you are, in the life stage you’re in, with the experiences you’ve had, to make an impact on the world. Your story, your journey, your struggles—none of it is wasted. It’s all part of the bigger picture that God is weaving together. And it’s through surrendering to Him that you can walk confidently in the plan He has for you, making a change, one generation at a time.A Band of Brothers in Christ As men, we were never meant to walk alone. We are designed for community. God created us to be in relationship with others, to have accountability, and to build each other up. It’s not a peace that comes from checking everything off the to-do list or achieving success. It’s not about having everything under control. Bonus points for any husband who takes a moment to express gratitude for his wife.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are called to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Even in the chaos and challenges, gratitude shifts our perspective from what we lack to what we’ve been blessed with. It’s important to share this with our families—not just in words, but through actions.<h3>Practical Ways to Embrace the Spirit</h3>There are numerous practical ways to embrace the spirit of Christmas and make it a meaningful celebration for both you and your family. I like to label this journal as my 'Counted Blessings Journal,' which, much like the stars in the sky, will never fully be counted. Encourage your family to write down moments of thankfulness throughout the season. The statistic says it all: "When a mother comes to Christ, her family will join her at church only 17% of the time; but when a father comes to Christ, his family joins him 93% of the time." This truth, highlighted by sources like Focus on the Family Publishing and Baptist Press, is a wake-up call for all of us. The reality is that men hold the power to influence their families spiritually like no one else. Yet, for too long, the church has struggled to effectively engage men in the life-changing power of discipleship.At FATE Fellowship, we believe in the power of intentional ministry to men. Our mission is simple: to help men grow in their faith, embrace their role as leaders in their homes and churches, and ultimately raise up the next generation of leaders. However, what we are saying is that the neglect of men in church leadership has had a detrimental effect on families, marriages, and spiritual growth across generations. When a father comes to Christ, his family is far more likely to follow. In fact, studies show that 93% of the time, a father’s faith influences his children to join him at church. However, when a mother comes to Christ, only 17% of the time does her family join her in faith. This shows that men have a unique and powerful role in leading their families spiritually. But if men are not actively engaged in church life, if they are passive or absent, the results are devastating: families, marriages, and future generations lack the guidance and spiritual strength they need.FATE Fellowship understands the importance of targeting men for discipleship. We are committed to helping men step into their roles as spiritual leaders, not just in their homes, but within the church and their communities. This decision influences not only his own life but every life touched by his example and leadership. <h3>Biblical Foundations for Masculine Leadership</h3>The foundation for masculine leadership in the church starts with the Bible. From the very beginning, God ordained men to be leaders, protectors, and providers. In Genesis, we see that God created man first, and then from the man, He created the woman. This isn’t about dominance or hierarchy, but about responsibility. Man was given the charge to care for the Garden of Eden, to name the animals, and to provide for the needs of the woman. This establishes the God-given responsibility of leadership. Adam’s failure to step up and lead when tempted by sin (Genesis 3) caused catastrophic consequences, not only for himself but for the entire world. This tells us that men are called to lead, and that their leadership impacts more than just themselves—it impacts their wives, children, and generations to come.Jesus Himself affirmed the importance of men’s leadership in His ministry. He chose twelve men to be His closest disciples. These men were not only learners; they were called to be leaders in the church He would establish. Jesus invested deeply in these men, teaching them, challenging them, and sending them out to build His Kingdom. The role of men in spiritual leadership is clear: it’s not just a suggestion, it’s a divine calling.Paul, in his letters, speaks to the role of men as leaders in both the home and the church. In Ephesians 5:23, Paul writes, “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.” This is not about control or domineering but about loving leadership. Men are called to love their wives sacrificially, as Christ loved the church. The responsibility of a husband is to lead with humility, wisdom, and a heart that mirrors the leadership of Christ. This leadership flows from a deep understanding of God’s love and a desire to reflect that love in his relationship with his wife, his children, and his community.Men are also called to lead their children. Proverbs 22:6 tells us, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." This is not merely a suggestion, but a command for fathers to guide their children in the way of the Lord. Fathers are meant to be the primary spiritual influences in their children's lives, teaching them about God, guiding them in righteousness, and setting an example of godly living. As I sit here reflecting on the journey of FATE Fellowship, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. From the very beginning, this ministry has not been about one person’s efforts, but rather the collective heartbeat of men who have stepped into this vision together. I want to take a moment to thank each and every man who has played a role in building FATE into what it is today. They recognized that their children needed more than financial support; they needed their fathers to be present, engaged, and emotionally connected. Some men who once thought they were “protecting” their families by working long hours discovered that their efforts had created distance instead of closeness. Being a hardworking father is important, but there is no greater reward than being a father who is emotionally present and actively involved in his children’s lives.At FATE Fellowship, we’ve witnessed marriages healed, relationships restored, and families united. King David and Jonathan shared an extraordinary friendship, built on mutual trust, loyalty, and love. Paul mentored Timothy, guiding him through difficult decisions and challenges in ministry. And of course, Jesus surrounded himself with a group of disciples, each one engaged in life at a critical moment, empowered to be more than they ever imagined. These relationships weren’t just friendships—they were transformative. They were life-shaping.At FATE Fellowship, our team sees this same potential in each other. We see the value in every man who comes through our doors, and we see the power of what happens when we come together in Christ-centered community. We are better because of the relationships we’ve built. <h2>Understanding Biblical Disciplines</h2>I always say that disciplines are the things you need to do but are most likely not already doing. If it were something we were already doing, we would call it a habit or a normal part of our routine. However, asking and expecting someone to pray, read their Bible regularly, and be accountable to someone else right away can feel unfair. That’s why it’s something we first have to recognize as a need, believe in its importance, and intentionally incorporate it into our daily lives.&nbsp;Now, we need to focus on embracing these disciplines. As I mentioned earlier, they’re things we’re not already doing—usually because they’re not immediately fun or because we haven’t yet seen the benefits of prioritizing them. But these disciplines are intentional actions or habits that align with biblical teachings, and they’re designed to help us deepen our faith and strengthen our relationship with God.Biblical disciplines are not just tasks to complete. They are pathways to transform one's life. The goal is not simply to go without something, but to fill that space with prayer, worship, and reflection, asking God to speak into our lives. When we remove those distractions, we create room for God to reveal areas in our hearts where we need healing, guidance, or strength. Consider how often we face spiritual challenges that seem overwhelming or insurmountable. In these moments, we may feel like the disciples who struggled to cast out the demon in Matthew 17. Despite their efforts, they couldn't overcome the evil spirit. Jesus, however, simply rebuked the demon and healed the boy, and when the disciples asked why they couldn’t do it, He told them, “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21).This is a crucial reminder: some spiritual battles require more than just faith or good intentions.
